As part of the Subject to Disruption exhibition as part of the Aspire 26 programme, I facilitated 4 play jamming sessions.

Each session was designed to share an artists practice in terms of the doing and making rather than sessions designed as workshops to a particular end.

This was my first public provision of Jam sessions - not workshops - but sessions where people are invited to look, see, notice, respond, make…in a way that children play. Play is a right for everychild as a natural activity to process the world and grow. Adults can also occupy a similar space when we are making when the same conditions are provided - a safe space, to mimic, change ( rules), adapt, be curious, try out other things, play alone or with someone else …and interchange…and freeflow. When we work by responding to what is shown to us, we can respond straight away…almost an instinctive response that takes us and learning into spaces we couldnt have thought of alone.
